Request for Independent Medical Evaluation (IME) Texas Medical Board
If the Texas Medical Board believes that one of its licensees is unable to safely practice medicine, whether due to physical, mental, or any other type of reason, they may require that licensee to undergo an independent medical evaluation, or IME. This will involve a professional evaluation of the license holder’s physical and/or mental well-being, and will usually result in a prescribed list of recommendations for care and treatment.
In most cases, this list of recommendations must be followed by the licensee before any restrictions on their medical license will be lifted.
If you’ve received a request for an independent medical evaluation, you may be facing a situation that could jeopardize your livelihood, your license, and your ability to practice medicine in the future. Fortunately, at the Leichter Law Firm PC, we have experience helping medical professionals just like you protect their careers.
