After being charged with medical negligence, Dr. Gilles Bourdon of the Southwest One Medical Clinic was suspended from practicing medicine for eight months. He was also ordered to pay a fine of $4,000.
He was suspended for a second time by the College of Physicians after reportedly recommending chemo and radiotherapy to a cancer patient who explicitly expressed preference for surgical tumor removal.
Patients’ rights advocate, Paul Brunet, mentioned that suspending a medical license indefinitely is incredibly difficult and the pursuit of indefinite suspension would certainly tarnish the doctor’s reputation to the point of ruining it.
Medical license suspension usually affects a doctor’s career negatively. If you are in need of defense from allegations of medical malpractice or negligence in the Austin area, contact the Leichter Law Firm PC at (512) 495-9995 to find out how we can help you.
