A veterinarian has been given two years probation after it was discovered she used the clinic’s drugs for her own personal use. According to the state Department of Health, the woman self-administered anesthesia at least five times and took Xanax while at work.
In August, the Veterinary Board of Governors suspended her license for her drug abuse. The board has agreed to let her practice again after she undergoes medical treatment and evaluation. She will also have to be evaluated for mental health issues, substance abuse, and dependency.
While on probation, the woman will be inspected three times a year to ensure the clinic’s controlled substances are being used properly.
