A personal injury lawyer from Knoxville, Tennessee is fighting for the reinstatement of his license after it was suspended in 2005.
The man’s law office advertised free legal representation to victims of accidents and stated that the law office would only be paid if they won a case. The lawyer’s license was suspended because the Board of Professional Responsibility found that the lawyers would sometimes mix his client’s money with his own. He was not convicted of theivery because none of his clients ever lost money.
The lawyer applied for his license to be reninstated in 2007, but it was not allowed. Now, he is claiming that one member of the board was unfit to decide on his case because he, himself, was participating in criminal behavior. The lawyers is seeking an appeal.
